From the time I completed 3rd grade at Woodville Elementary, I've wanted to be a cheerleader. But out of fear of judgement I never spoke up about joining the squads. From 4th grade to 8th grade, I relentlessly researched everything I could about cheerleaders (motions, tumbling, stunting, jumps, cheers). When I became a freshman student at Henrico High School, I first witnessed the cheerleaders at our first pep rally. They had me hooked from the 8-counts to the cheers and I knew I wanted to be apart of it, only to be told that the current coach didn't want a co-ed squad. But, once the squad received a new coach, I was ready. Summer 2009, I tried out for the HHS Competition Squad, I didn't make it, but I didnt give up. When try-outs came around in Spring/Summer 2010 I was more than ready due to the hard work and dedication I put in along with More Than Cheer owner Brittany Rose. It brings me great joy to say that I made the competition squad and I am loving everything about it. It brings me much sadness to know that I, along with the majority of the cheerleaders are seniors and that I won't be on the floor with them next year, but, I'm happy to say that by the time I finish high school, with the help of more than cheer, I will be ready for the next level of cheerleading: COLLEGE CO-ED!
